Review: Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin #1) by R.L. LaFevers

Summary-
Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?
Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.
Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

Review-
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, with it's deep historical aspect. From the first glimpse into the main character's world, I was lost. I could empathize with her negative outlook on her life. I instantly loved her personality. Even if she does prove to be somewhat out of touch with her womanly wiles. That fact just makes her even more endearing. The book has a good strong storyline, wonderful characters and beautiful settings. This book has all the elements to be an Outstanding read. There is the main character assasin who's fathered by death, a hugh love story, the politics of Court life with revenge & so many other factors thrown in for good measure. It was exciting to watch Ismae go from a naive, little girl to an interesting young lady. This book ha sso many things going on at once it's impossible to get bored. I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. Am I ever glad to have given it a chance to change my mind!! I encourage anyone who has this on their to-read-list to bump it straight to the top.
