Review: Tempest Child by Laura Eno

Summary-
As future Queen and Guardian of the Elements, Princess Skylather'cha'eab thought her worst nightmare was the impending find-a-husband party until events take an ominous turn. Now she must put her life at risk to save her Kingdom. Armed with only a staff, a bow, and her wits, Skyla's world is turned upside-down when she enters the Crossroads and encounters the beast she's destined to kill. Does she have the courage to sort truth from lie, or will she die not knowing who betrayed her?

Review-

The summary on the back of the book is usually a really good indicator of whether the book will be good or not, but it can sometimes be misleading.  The back of this book suggests the usually run of the mill princess tragedy, but that is so not the case with Princess Skylather'cha'eab, or Skyla.  This book is so much better than the back suggests.  It was a little confusing at the beginning to get the plot down because you had this medieval vibe with jeans and outrageous teen parties, not to mention tons of magic, but then as you read it, it gets easier to understand.  Skyla isn't just a Princess on a right of passage mission, as some may think from the back, but an underestimated teenager who finds love and hatred, and in a way no one would expect.  It is a thrilling ride and one that will always be a great one to look back on.  Eno does a great job with Skyla and Derrok. They are both people you want to be.  I mean, who wouldn't want a talking water spout, or amazing powers, or to find true love in the person she was meant to hate? It is just a great book to read, for anyone of any age.
